Why I Chose Nikon D5300 for Vlogging

nikon d5300

Nikon D5300 is my vlogging camera. Yes, I’ve just bought the DSLR and currently vlogging on Nikon D5300. A lot of people asked me that why I didn’t get the Canon G7X or Canon 70D. So I want to answer them in this blog post. And I’d rather focus on why I chose Nikon D5300 (affiliate link).

But let’s clear this up. Canon G7X isn’t available in Pakistan and there wasn’t any option to get it from abroad either. No cousin or friend was coming over. It was clearly not an option to wait for someone who is coming from the U.S or UK to get me a Canon G7X. I wanted to get the camera instantaneously.

Secondly, Canon 70D was costing me 92,000 PKR with the kit lens. I mean almost a thousand dollars. It wasn’t affordable for me at the moment. I might get one in the future. A year ago, I bought the Sony Cybershot WX350 (affiliate link) that did cost me $310 and now this Nikon D5300 costs $510. I pretty much spent more than $800 on the cameras in a year. And I’m very content and satisfied with the money I have spent and the gadgets I’ve gathered.

Now let’s come to the Nikon D5300 and discuss why I bought this camera. A lot of friends asked me that why I chose this camera over others. So, I thought it would be interesting to write a blog post on vlogging.pk.

Here are some of the reasons why I chose Nikon D5300:

Flip Screen Ability

I would never buy a DSLR without the flip-screen feature. I’m a vlogger and I wanted to use the DSLR for vlogging. Thanks to Nikon D5300 (affiliate link) that offers the beautiful flip screen which allows me to vlog and make videos easily. One of the perks of the flip screen is that you know it whether or not the camera is focused.

Compact Size

The size is incredibly amazing. My brother has the Canon 700D and that thing is heavier and bigger. Nikon D5300 is clearly smaller in size and compact to grab and photo-shoot. When I first saw the video review of Nikon D5300, I figured out instantly that this camera is a little bit smaller in size than the average DSLR. It has a lot of benefits, though. It’s easy to carry along and put in the bag.

Key Vlogging Features

I would not have bought this camera if it didn’t have the external microphone feature. When it comes to vlogging, you sometimes need to vlog outside and the DSLR without a microphone isn’t a good idea in that situation. Moreover, it has WiFi feature which is extremely useful, although, I haven’t started using it yet but I will definitely use it. One of the benefits of this camera is that it’s lightweight and it does the justice to the size of the body.

Affordable Price

I’ve told earlier in this blog post that the price was $510 when I bought it from a local market in Faisalabad, Pakistan. It could be slightly different in other areas of the country or other parts of the world. But it would be more or less $500. So I found this camera quite affordable for vlogging starters who just need to upgrade the camera gear after a little bit of vlogging experience.

This wasn’t the camera review. I’ll be writing an in-depth camera review, later on. Because I just bought this camera a week ago. I’ll be writing the review after 3 to 4 weeks. I still need to test the photography features because I was just playing around with the video options so far.

So, I briefly explained it to you that why I purchased Nikon D5300 and why I think it’s a great camera for me at this point of my vlogging career where I have got 14 months of vlogging experience under my belt. And I’m optimistic about the future.

I hope you’ll find this blog post useful.
